Hi all,

I am just building from source "openmovieeditor-0.0.20090105" and having this problem.

configure: error: Lame Codec in libquicktime not found, reinstall libquicktime with lame enabled

I installed some lame libraries and reinstall libquicktime and libquicktime-dev
It doesn't helped.
Than uninstall both libs ( libquicktime and libquicktime-dev ) and install libquicktime from source .... (not -dev version)
I saw even "lame: Yes" after ./configure ...but then I got same error message.

I checked ./configure -h for openmovieeditor and there are these two lines:
LIBQUICKTIME_CFLAGS
C compiler flags for LIBQUICKTIME, overriding pkg-config
LIBQUICKTIME_LIBS
linker flags for LIBQUICKTIME, overriding pkg-config

I don't know if this can help me somehow.

Thanks for any help

Cheers

mira

Hi Mira,

That's weird, did you build your copy of LAME from source first, then
libquicktime checking that LAME support was specified to be built in at
the ./configure stage? If not, that's what I'd recommend.

Cheers!

Daniel

Hi Daniel

yes your advice helped but now I am geting this error:
configure: error: x264 Codec in libquicktime not found, reinstall libquicktime with x264 enabled

even if I have this line after libquicktime ./configure
config.status: creating plugins/x264/Makefile

Open movie editor seems to be nice and fiendly to use but version from hardy 0.0.20071118-1 seems to be unstable ;-(.
Has nice feature for handling sound and easy makes bleeding.
Thats why I would like to try new one ... pity that there is quite a lot dependencies.

Or any sugetion for substitution? Kino has no enough features.

Cheers

mira

Maybe there's an extra source package you need for that.

Yes, you really need the latest release.

Some people like Cinelerra, there's also LiVES. I personally like OME
because of the Jack transport support, looking forward to the day when
we have a really stable combination with Ardour.

Cheers!

The new (Qt4) version of Kdenlive is also worth looking at - they seem to have
done a step change in useability.
