btw and also half OT.... The original author of Cinelerra wasn't really
cooperative, seemingly he's not really willing to communicate with an
community. The Cinelerra community on the other hand very actively
responded and contributed into what now is a separate spin-off project
called "Lumeira", see http://lumiera.org

You are right, the questions how to organize the UI for an application
targeted editing in the context of professional / independent film
making are challenging. Of course, we've advanced by several steps but
are far from anything an end user could try out.
