Default Qjackctl and ffado

Hi,

Are you planning on upgrading to latest jack/ffado/freebob combo for the upcoming version of 64Studio. I compile these myself and can report a significant improvement in stability. I can run my Focusrite Saffire PRO 26 at 64 frames per period and everything is stable. Freebob could not do this. I am also runnig 2.6.24 with RT patches.

The only thing I cannot compile is qjackctl since I need the QT 4.3 devel packages which are not in the testing repository. I need to upgrade qjackctl so that I can access the midi ports of the Saffire. Can the dev package be included?

Apart from this the 2.1 pre series is* working very well.

Lincoln

Yes we do plan upgrading from freebob to ffado, but not for the 2.1
release, as the upstream author still suggests sticking to freebob.

Upgrading the kernel is also not something that will happen in 2.1

Qt 4.3 is available in the backports repo:

deb http://apt.64studio.com/backports etch-backports main

apt-get update
apt-get install libqt4-dev

Good

Ciao,

Hi Free,

FFADO is going into beta. You can have both freebob and ffado running side by side. You select what backend to use through Jack. I think it is worth putting ffado in the test repository, it is really something else compared to freebob.
