I believe this has to do with jackd running. Some time ago I could not
even shut down my system if jack was still running. Now that is working.

If you stop jackd it logs of quickly.

This was a very nasty bug to fix, but I've managed to get it nailed down
by adding the notification-daemon package and a few others to the default
install.

apt-get update
aptitude install ~t^cdd$
