Default Cinelerra???

Hey All:

Long time no talk, blah, blah, blah :-)

I want to edit some video from one of my old bands,and I vowed to use
linux. I want to use Cinelerra but I'm having a bear of a time
installing it on 64 Studio 2.0. I have followed the directions on the 64
Studio page, but I'm hitting a brick wall. Here is the error I'm getting:

mike@64studio:~$ sudo apt-get install cinelerra
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
cinelerra: Depends: libasound2 (> 1.0.14) but 1.0.13-2 is to be
installed
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.6-1) but 2.3.6.ds1-13 is to be

Depends: libfreetype6 (>= 2.3.5) but 2.2.1-5+etch1 is
to be installed
Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.2.1) but 1:4.1.1-21 is to be
installed
Depends: libguicast (>= 1:2.1.0) but it is not going to
be installed

installed
Depends: libmjpegtools0 (>= 1:1.8.0) but it is not
going to be installed
Depends: libmpeg3hv (>= 1:2.1.0) but it is not going to
be installed
Depends: libopenexr2ldbl (>= 1.2.2) but it is not
installable

going to be installed

installed
Depends: libvorbis0a (>= 1.2.0) but 1.1.2.dfsg-1.2 is
to be installed
Depends: libvorbisfile3 (>= 1.2.0) but 1.1.2.dfsg-1.2
is to be installed
Depends: zlib1g (>= 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-1) but 1:1.2.3-13 is
to be installed
Depends: libguicast (= 1:2.1.0-2svn20071030) but it is
not going to be installed
Depends: libquicktimehv (= 1:2.1.0-2svn20071030) but it
is not going to be installed
Depends: libmpeg3hv (= 1:2.1.0-2svn20071030) but it is
not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Does this mean that the current dependencies are too new? Should I
install 64 Studio 1.3 for better compatibility?

Are there any other video editing suites you have installed on 2.0?

You could try Kino. It is installed in 64studio by default, and while
not as advanced as Cinelerra, it still gives DV import from the camera,
and all the basic editing features you need.

Cheers,
Quentin

PS: I'll look into the cinelerra install issue... You perhaps also need
to activate the 64studio etch-backports repository.

I forgot to note that I had followed the directions on the 64 Studio
page and added that repository.

Try the instruction now again. I have added an extra repository, and
would appreciate it if you tested it for me. This is if you have the
AMD64 version of 64studio...
