Gnomes "frequency scaling monitor"-applet is an easy to use tool to set
the frequency scaling to "ondemand" for everyday use / graphic-work or a
needed value of power for realtime applications. One must set the SUID-bit
for this applet which is the only disadvantage. (Future versions work with
policy kit.)
