JackTrip is a Linux-based system used for multi-machine jam sessions over
Internet2. It supports any number of channels (as much as the
computer/network can handle) of bidirectional, high quality, uncompressed
audio signal steaming

Sounds cool :-) While I doubt many people will have access to Internet2
any time soon, I think it could be useful over a local gigabit LAN. I'm
curious to see how it compares to netjack.

I noticed the same group has produced a Jack connections save/restore tool:
